An open letter to Dick Monfort, owner of the Colorado Rockies:<\/h3>\n

We who have signed this petition are die-hard fans of the Colorado Rockies.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been with you through thick and thin. From Eric Young\u2019s inaugural home run at Mile High Stadium to the glory days of the Blake Street Bombers. We cheered Larry Walker through his MVP season in 1997 and rallied alongside you through 2007\u2032s improbable Rocktober run to the World Series. We held our breath through Ubaldo\u2019s no-hitter and watched with pride as Todd Helton finished a spectacular career as Colorado\u2019s greatest ballplayer. You name it, we were there with you.<\/p>\n

Until now.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve stood with you through more than 21 years of sub-.500 ball. We\u2019ve tolerated Dan O\u2019Dowd and his constant state of rebuilding. And while you seem to be telling fans you\u2019d rather turn a profit than help the team succeed on the field, we\u2019ve kept coming to the ballpark to cheer our team through thick and thin.<\/p>\n

We’ve heard that you\u2019ve recently emailed fans and season ticket holders telling us maybe we should stop coming to games<\/a>, and that maybe Denver doesn\u2019t deserve a franchise, maybe time for it to find a new home.<\/a><\/p>\n

Enough is enough.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re tired of your scare tactics. We\u2019re tired of your inability to put a competitive team on the field. We\u2019re tired of you.<\/p>\n

So sell the team, Dick Monfort. Sell it to someone who cares more about winning than turning a profit. Maybe *you* should find a new home, a home that isn\u2019t 20th & Blake Street. You don\u2019t deserve the best sports town in the entire world. And while we won\u2019t make any money off the deal, we will all benefit from an owner who puts the team and its fans first.<\/p>\n

We want the Rockies to stay in Denver. We just don\u2019t want you running them.<\/p>\n
